The state of California has a list of chemicals it knows to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. Exposure to any chemical on this list is governed by a law is known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, or Proposition 65. Since Prop 65's beginning, the list has continuously expanded and today contains over 900 substances.
